Understanding the Planning & Development Process

The Office of Planning and Development is the office responsible for reviewing all new Significant Projects requests.  Before a university building is designed and built, this office will verify the feasibility of the building;

Ø       where will it be sited

Ø       has funding been secured for Architectural/Engineering fees

Ø       has funding been secured or identified for the project construction costs

The University Architect has the responsibility of developing the Feasibility Study. This document will provide all details including the Academic Program for future building.  Once completed the Office of Planning and Development produces the Concept Document.

The Concept Document is an official document that must be approved by the Buildings & Grounds Committee of the Board of Governors in order for a project to move forward.  This document will allow for a project to move into the planning and development stage.
